1/27/07-Helton to the Red Sox?: The Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red
Sox are rumored to be in trade negotiations for Rockies 1B Todd Helton. Helton, 33, has been one of the better hitters
in the past few seasons and could become the Red Sox #2 hitter in front of the trio of Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz and newly-signed
JD Drew. If Helton is traded, expect the Rockies to try and get the Sox top positional prospect OF Jacoby

1/27/07-Weaver to the Mariners?: Pitcher Jeff Weaver is reportedly on the verge of signing a 1-year,
$8.3 million, contract with the Seattle Mariners. Weaver, who's outstanding postseason helped the Cardinals win the
World Series last year, may take his physical as early as the beginning of next week. This signing comes on the heels
of the signing of relief pitcher, Arthur Rhodes. ( ESPN)
1/27/07-Sosa to Rangers deal nearly finalized: Free-Agent RF, Sammy Sosa, and the Texas Rangers
are expected to finalize a minor-league deal early next week. Sosa, who hasn't played in the majors since 2005 with
the Orioles, is best known for his historic HR chase against Cardinals Mark McGwire in 1998. Sosa has 588 career home
